How To Make Sports Recruiting Videos

By Krystal Branch

If one is an aspiring athlete who would want to make it to the best college sports teams or the big leagues, then he should first show the recruiters that he is actually worthy of their time and viewing. A very good way to be able to show off some skills would be to make some sports recruiting videos for the recruiters. Just in case one does not know where to start, here are a few tips that may help.

The first step in making a video like this is to simply ask the head coach for all the videos of the games he participated in. The head coach will definitely be able to look through the files in order to find some of the videos. Now he should scan it together with the coach so that he could find the footage wherein he actually did well.

Now when he has obtained all of the required footage from the head coach, then he has to now look for some of the highlights there that can be included in the video. It is recommended that he would ask some assistance from the head coach in picking the specific highlights. The coach will be able to tell him the things that recruiters are searching for.

Once one has already picked the highlights that he would want to showcase, then the next thing to do would be to put the videos in his laptop. From there, he can cut out some of the highlights that he would want to showcase by using a video editor. He can save them as separate video files which he will be using later on in the process.

Now when that is done, leave the folder for a while and concentrate now on creating an introduction video. Now this video is made to introduce the highlights part and should feature the athlete telling the viewers about himself like his name, role in the varsity, and his school. After that, he should tell a short message that would state the purpose of the video.

After making that short video, then he may now compile all of his clips in order to make a single video. Of course he has to edit the video well so that it will look as professionally done as possible. Do take note that the recruiters will also be looking at how well the video was made and not only just on what the video shows.

After the completion of the video, then it is now time to bring it to the recruiters. Now one may choose to approach recruiters who come to games and just simply give the DVD containing the clips. Of course there is also the second option of gaining some referrals from the coach.

Now one thing to never ever forget when making sports recruiting videos is to make sure it is not hours long. It should be at most ten to fifteen minutes long only. The introduction should be thirty seconds to minute while the rest of the film should be the highlights part.
